The Applied Superconductivity Laboratory (ASL) was represented at the 27th International Conference on Electrical Machines (ICEM 2026), held in Madeira, Portugal.

Research Fellow Alexander Shchukin delivered an oral presentation on the development of a 100 kW fully superconducting axial flux motor, highlighting recent progress in high-temperature superconducting (HTS) rotor development and experimental testing. The work contributes to ongoing efforts to develop high-power-density electric machines for future transport and energy applications.

The conference also provided valuable opportunities to engage with researchers and industrial partners working in advanced electrical machine technologies. Discussions with major industrial companies highlighted growing interest in superconducting solutions for next-generation high-power-density propulsion systems and related applications.
