ASL Participates in CDT in Net Zero Aviation Partners & Stakeholders Event at Cranfield University

Members of the Applied Superconductivity Laboratory (ASL) attended the CDT in Net Zero Aviation Partners & Stakeholders Event held at Cranfield University’s Aerospace Integration Research Centre (AIRC) on 8 July 2026. The event brought together researchers, industry representatives and stakeholders from across the aviation sector to discuss research priorities and opportunities for achieving net-zero aviation.

The programme featured keynote presentations from organisations including EPSRC, the Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI), Clean Aviation, Rolls-Royce, Safran and Airbus, together with networking sessions, poster presentations and interactive workshops focused on the future of sustainable aviation technologies.

The Applied Superconductivity Laboratory was represented by Alexander Shchukin, who presented a research poster entitled “Liquid Hydrogen Pump for Aviation Fuel Circulation” during the poster sessions. The poster highlighted the potential role of cryogenic fluid management and superconducting technologies in supporting future hydrogen-powered aircraft.

The event provided an excellent opportunity to engage with researchers and industry partners working across a broad range of net-zero aviation projects, exchange ideas, and explore potential future collaborations.

In addition to the technical programme, attendees had the opportunity to visit aviation research and training facilities at Cranfield University, including advanced flight simulation environments used for aerospace research and education.
