Gaurav Successfully Passes His Viva and Embarks on a New Chapter with UKAEA

On 27th November 2024, Gaurav Gautam successfully defended his PhD viva, marking the culmination of 3.5 years of intensive research in the field of superconductivity. Reflecting on his PhD journey, he shared:
“Pursuing a PhD is often described as a journey of discovery, challenge, and growth. For me, those 3.5 years immersed in the field of superconductivity were transformative, an intense period of intellectual and personal development that has shaped my career and fueled my passion for innovation. In this PhD project, I have developed an efficient superconducting busbar design for all-electric aircraft. I am very grateful for this opportunity and thankful for the support that I got from the supervisors and lab mates throughout the journey.”
Now, he embarks on an exciting new chapter, joining the UKAEA. Speaking about his future, he added:
“Now I have started my new journey with UKAEA to explore fusion and how superconductors can shape the fusion industry.”
His innovative work continues to contribute to advancements in cutting-edge technologies, paving the way for impactful developments in superconductivity and fusion energy.
